At Taoist Wellness Online, we honour the rich lineage of Taoist internal arts through the teachings of Master Gu, with a focus on Wudang Tai Chi and Taoist Qi Gong. For new and returning students alike, it can be helpful to understand the broader context of these ancient arts, as well as the specific forms taught through our academy.
🌀 Tai Chi (Taiji)
Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial art known for its flowing, meditative movements and deep internal focus. Originally developed for both health and self-defense, it harmonises body, breath, and mind. Over centuries, several major styles have evolved, including Chen, Yang, Wu, Sun, and Wudang - each with unique characteristics.
Chen style is the oldest, marked by alternating fast and slow movements.
Yang style is more widely practiced, known for its slow, graceful motions.
Wu and Sun styles introduce compact movements and fluid transitions.
Wudang style, rooted in Taoist philosophy and internal cultivation, emphasizes softness, stillness within motion, and harmony with nature.
At Taoist Wellness Online, we specialise in Wudang Tai Chi - also known as Taoist Tai Chi - taught by Master Gu, whose lineage traces back to the Wudang Mountains, a sacred Taoist site and origin of many internal martial arts.
We currently offer instruction in the following Wudang Tai Chi forms:
Wudang Taiji 8 Form
Wudang Taiji 13 Form
Wudang Taiji 28 Form
Wudang Taiji 33 Form
Wudang Taiji 9 Form
Wudang Taiji Sword
These forms range in length and complexity, catering to both beginners and advanced practitioners.
🌿 Qi Gong (Qigong)
Qi Gong is a holistic system of coordinated body movement, breath, and meditation used for health, spirituality, and martial arts training. Like Tai Chi, it has many styles and lineages - including Medical Qi Gong, Martial Qi Gong, and Taoist Qi Gong.
Master Gu teaches Taoist Qi Gong, which focuses on aligning the body with the natural rhythms of the Tao to cultivate internal energy (Qi), nourish the organs, and calm the spirit.
Our academy offers training in the following practices:
Five Animals Qi Gong
Wudang Five Animals Qi Gong (a variation unique to the Wudang lineage)
Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong (Eight Brocades)
Six Sound Healing Qi Gong
Meridian Qi Gong
These practices support vitality, emotional balance, and deep internal awareness. They can be adapted to all levels and are suitable for both standing and seated practice.
We also provide morning and evening Qi Gong routines designed to align with the body’s circadian rhythms and natural energy flow.
